Miami University’s Communications and Marketing department has been charged with building and maintaining the university’s brand on a local, regional, and national stage. This dynamic and award-winning team is comprised of over 60 marketing and communications professionals and is looking to hire a Multichannel Content Creator.

Miami University seeks a communications professional to write and edit stories, multimedia features, social media posts, email, and web content in support of Miami University’s student enrollment goals. In collaboration with campus and external partners as well as colleagues within Miami’s marketing department, the Multi-Channel Content Creator will develop content for and execute integrated and comprehensive communication plans as part of the enrollment marketing team.

The position of Multi-Channel Content Creator will be expected to work within our project management system to assist in managing project timelines and maintaining deadlines to ensure timely completion of projects. It will require giving/receiving creative and editorial feedback from/to clients and colleagues, as well as the ability to drive results while keeping projects on track. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and understanding in these areas.

This position has been approved for hybrid remote work with a two-day-in-office and three-day-remote schedule each week on the university’s Oxford, Ohio campus. Remote work is not a right, it is a work arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason, including the convenience of the University.

 

Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Create engaging visual and written multi-channel content for websites, email, social media, third-party platforms, and other communication vehicles to promote the Miami University student experience to future students. 
  • Use data-informed strategy to implement, monitor, and maintain enrollment communication plans for prospective, admitted, and enrolling students, their parents/family, and other influencers, serving as liaison to strategic teams within the Office of Admission. 
  • Collaborate with production/traffic managers, other content creators, designers, photographers, web staff, and other appropriate staff to produce content in support of university enrollment goals.
  • Contribute to Miami social media channels, creating content that will engage prospective Miami students.
  • Write, present, and modify copy. 
  • Proofread other editors’ materials. 
  • Research content, conduct interviews, and prepare profiles. 
  • Assist in maintaining project deadlines and feasibility during the production of materials. Follow process and use appropriate software/tools for successfully monitoring progress of active projects, providing support as needed to ensure timely completion. 
  • Participate in professional development activities. 
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. 
  • One to three (1-3) years of experience creating content in a marketing or communication environment. 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience with communication in higher education, preferably international undergraduate and/or graduate admission marketing and communication. 
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and/or other video editing software. Customer service skills, including diplomatically, patiently, and successfully handling complaints, problems, questions, conflict, and suggestions. 
  • Knowledge of AP style and experience working within brand guidelines. 
  • Experience with a website content management system. 
  • Understanding of development and design tools (including HTML), SEO, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, basic understanding of website analytics and measuring ROI; solid understanding of online copywriting and how it impacts search engine optimization. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and strategy; experience with web content management systems (CMS); marketing best practices. 
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written. 
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas. 
  • Excellent editing skills, including technical knowledge, grammar and formatting. Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage complex tasks, set priorities and manage the involvement of other staff 
  • Ability to collaborate and contribute in a team environment but also to show initiative and function under limited supervision.
